Members of the Kingsbridge community rallied to voice their concerns about a proposed temporary housing program in their neighborhood on Wednesday.

Long-time residents say 83 men could be moved into a building on Bainbridge Avenue. They say they fear the transitional housing might make their neighborhood unsafe.

"To put it into perspective, this community has approximately 30 to 40 homes, two shelters and one of the largest amount of transitional housing programs in the entire city. While other communities have just one or two or even in some cases, zero," said Council member Oswald Feliz.

Feliz says he spoke to the mayor's office prior to the rally and he was told they would consider putting the plan on pause.

News 12 reached out to the City Department of Homeless Services and is awaiting a response.
