This Labor Day, several volunteers are picking up anything from empty pill bottles to trash, and reminding people that barbecuing is not allowed at Mosholu Park.

If you walk down Mosholu Parkway, you'll spot Elizabeth Quaranta cleaning up.
"We have been doing this for five years, but aggressively for the past couple of months and that's because of the parks budget cuts,” says Quaranta.
Quaranta is the executive director of Friends of Mosholu Parkland and on Monday, volunteers joined her to pick up garbage left behind.
"If you're a visitor from outside, please take your trash with you and bring it to the curb so that person can pick it respect environment that's here,” says Quaranta.
The organization is run by volunteers like Liza Rodriguez, who was motivated to join when she started working from home.
"It makes me feel empowered. It makes me feel like we have to keep up with this work. We all have to pitch in and do something,” says Rodriguez.
People with trash pickers can be seen three to five days a week making sure areas of the parkway are spotless.
"Bring your own garbage bags to bag up your stuff. Enjoy the beautiful breeze at your beautiful day and closer eyes lead to the trees."
