A new initiative at Lehman College is changing the way students learn and saving them money in the process.
The college is introducing Open Educational Resources, or OER, this school year.
OER replaces typical textbooks with freely accessible resources that aren't limited to traditional copyright restrictions, whether its text, media or videos.
This saves students money but also allows professors to be creative with the information they want to teach because they are no longer limited to the entire text of one book.
A total of 15 OER classes will be available at Lehman College by the end of the spring semester.
