Elected officials and Kensington community leaders celebrated the co-naming of McDonald Avenue in Brooklyn as "Little Bangladesh" on Sunday.
Brooklyn’s Kensington neighborhood is considered by many as the heart of the Brooklyn Bangladeshi community as it is home to an estimated 35% of the Bangladeshi population in New York City.
“For 40 , 50 years, this community has fought as working class folks to build a life of security and dignity and so this is in honor of their love of this city, their hard work in this city and the fights to come as a daughter of this city,” said Councilmember Shahana Hanif.
News 12’s Shakti Denis was on the scene as the street co-naming was unveiled.
