Local businesses in Port Morris complain movie production takes away parking
Some local businesses in Port Morris say movie productions on their block is taking away valuable parking spots from their customers.
Parking is restricted on 135th Street and across the road. Dan Seplow of Rosenzweig Lumber and Plywood says the limited parking is impacting his business.
Seplow says film crews are taking up parking spots, and that sometimes an entire block is sectioned off by orange cones to prohibit drivers from parking there.
The city's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting issues permits for movie shoots at neighborhood locations. Port Morris' recent resurgence and architectural buildings have made the neighborhood an attractive backdrop for movie shoots.
Residents who also live in the area say they're also dealing with parking woes.
News 12 reached out to the Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting for response.
