A local group is trying to restore the former New York University library in University Heights.
The Gould Memorial Library's pristine decor on the outside hides years of damage inside.
The Friends of Gould Memorial Library is facing the task of renovating the building and finding new ways to use the space.
"Since NYU left in 1968 and we moved in here in 1973, I don't think any major repairs or renovations have been done to the building," says Thomas A. Isekenegbe, president of Bronx Community College.
According to the group, renovations will include getting news floors and replacing a ceiling dome that is used to let in natural light.
The group says they need close to $25 million for restorations.
