Students at Long Beach Middle School used Rubik’s cubes to create a mural of Martin Luther King Jr. for Black History Month.
The students used 225 Rubik’s cubes to create the mural. They had to solve a specific design for each one and then combine them together to create the finished product.
“To move in this direction where we’re using 21st century math skills, 21st century learning skills,” says Curriculum Director for Mathematics Christopher Kozak.
The school is planning to donate the mural to the Martin Luther King Center, a youth organization in Long Beach after Black History Month.
