Loved ones are gathering today to remember the 17-year-old Bronx basketball star who was shot to death nearly two weeks ago.
Brandon Hendricks’ friends and family are gathering today on what would have been his 18th birthday.
A large memorial to Hendricks has been set up on the basketball courts he used to play on in Melrose.
He had recently graduated high school and was in the process of accepting an offer to play basketball at West Hills Community College in California.
Today many are expected to gather to pay tribute to Hendricks on his birthday. Three games will take place, followed by a cookout.
On Monday, police arrested 22-year-old Najhim Luke. Luke has been charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with Hendrick’s death.
