Luna Park, Coney Island's iconic amusement park, has opened their doors for its 120th season.
This year, the park expanded 5 more acres full of new rides and attractions, including a flume ride and a new roller coaster.
"Both the roller coaster and the flume ride are really first of its kind," Alessandro Zamperla, president and CEO of Central Amusement International. "The roller coaster is the perfect roller coaster for kids to have the first experience with their family and then the flume ride where we have a splash, you don't feel anything, you know, you just see water and it's super exciting."
Brooklyn residents can't contain their excitement for the park's opening, saying it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
"I came since I was a kid and it really helped me... experience new things with different people," said 10th-grader Karen Gonzalez.
Luna Park will welcome the SkyChaser ropes course in May, which Alessandro Zamperla, president and CEO of Central Amusement International, says it'll provide breathtaking views of the city.
"It's a fun time to spend with your family, friends, it doesn't matter," said Ariana, a New Yorker who had to make her way here for the opening day. "Play games, go to an arcade, get Nathan's."
A new beer garden is currently under construction alongside a sports bar. Self-proclaimed mayor of Coney Island Ruben Garcia says he's excited to test out the new attractions.
"It's beautiful. As a child, you know, I got grand kids and they would love to come here all the time," said Garcia.
This Saturday, Luna Park will host an annual day of donations, where proceeds from the day's sales will be donated to children and youth charities citywide.
