Police say one man is behind bars following a shootout with officers and foot chase on Zerega Avenue early Saturday morning.
Officers were patrolling the area of Westchester Avenue and Rowland Street just after midnight, when they say a 19-year-old fired bullets at two officers, when he noticed them walking behind him.
The officers then fired back multiple times at the gunman, according to police. They say the suspect then dropped his gun, ran off and hid under a parked car.
A .40-caliber Glock 23 was recovered at the scene.
Police say neither the officers nor the suspect were shot during the gunfire exchange. Four officers and the suspect were taken to Jacobi Medical Center for evaluation.
