Man arrested for hate crime attack aboard L train at Lorimer Street station

Authorities say Carraway approached a 24-year-old man on the northbound train just before 5 a.m. on Jan. 18, and hurled anti-LGBTQIA+ statements at him.

Police say Yeshayahuw Carraway has been arrested in connection to a hate crime attack aboard an L train at the Lorimer Street subway station.

Authorities say Carraway, who resides in the Crotona Park East neighborhood of the Bronx, approached a 24-year-old man on the northbound train just before 5 a.m. on Jan. 18, and hurled anti-LGBTQIA+ statements at him.

Carraway then followed the man off the train, displayed a knife and punched him multiple times across his body.

The victim had minor injuries and denied medical attention.

Carraway is charged with hate crime assault, assault, theft of services, two-counts of aggravated harassment, hate crime menacing, menacing, and harassment.
