A man has been charged with boating while intoxicated in connection to a Sayville crash that left a person missing.
Police say Jack Benjamin was operating a boat in the Great South Bay when the vessel struck a jetty at the end of Browns River Road in Sayville just before 1:30 a.m.
The crash threw a 25-year-old passenger who was not wearing a life jacket overboard, according to police, and that person remains missing.
Benjamin and another passenger were treated and released for their injuries, while three others were not injured.
Benjamin, 25 of Farmingville, has since been charged with BWI. He will be arraigned Tuesday.
The search for the missing passenger is continuing, police say.
The incident is the second boater to go missing this weekend on Long Island. On Saturday, police say a man went overboard in Northport Harbor and never resurfaced. Authorities later called off the search.
