A gunman fatally shot a young man in broad daylight near a school and park in Kingsbridge.
Detectives from the 52nd Precinct canvassed the area for clues about the person whom they say opened fire on Creston Avenue near 193rd Street. The shooting happened behind P.S. 246 and right across the street from St. James Park.
Officials say that 20-year-old Angel Cesar was shot in the chest as he was walking along Creston Avenue. He was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Friends of the victim say he was a likeable, positive person. His father says he was shot while walking to school.
A lockdown at the school has since been lifted, and no one inside was hurt.
