Man pleads not guilty in girlfriend’s death
The Bronx man accused of killing his girlfriend pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon Tuesday.
During the court appearance, Miguel Bonilla, 44, held a copy of Stephen King's novel "Finders Keepers" in his shackled hands.
He was indicted Monday in the death of his live-in girlfriend Juana Alvarez.
Prosecutors say he admitted in a taped confession to repeatedly stabbing Alvarez in their Grand Concourse apartment in July.
Police have not recovered Alvarez's body, but investigators say they have surveillance video that they think shows Bonilla wheeling out a shopping cart with her body inside.
Bonilla is being held without bail. His next court date is Dec. 12.
