The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect accused of punching and robbing a man aboard a southbound 5 train in the Crotona Park area on Saturday.

Police say a 35‑year‑old man got into a verbal dispute with another rider at 3:30 p.m. while the train was at the 174 Street Station.

The man then reportedly punched the victim several times in the face and took his cellphone.

The victim was able to get his phone back before the suspect left the train at an unknown station, according to police.

EMS treated the victim at the scene.

The suspect is described as a bald man, with a dark complexion, slim build, and standing about 6 feet 2 inches tall.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a red graphic.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1‑800‑577‑TIPS.
