Masbia Soup Kitchen has been feeling the
heat of inflation.
At the peak of COVID, it was able to serve 500 people a
day. Now, due
to the high price of food, it can barely provide meals for 300 people.
Executive Director Alexander Rappaport says
Masbia Soup Kitchen heavily relies on donations from the Nourish New York
Program. The program committed $50
million back in April – however, since
the money is split between all state food pantries, the fund was depleted in November.
Rappaport has sent a letter to the governor and other state officials hoping to get
emergency funding.
Anyone who would like to make a donation
to the Masbia Soup Kitchen can do so
here.
