Mayor Eric Adams unveiled the next step in New York City's "war on rats" on Tuesday.
Mayor Adams, along with Department of Sanitation Commissioner Jessica Tisch, announced all businesses across the boroughs will be required to place their trash in containers starting March 2024.
Adams added the city has seen significant improvement since the first phase was implemented. The city initially only required
food-related businesses to use the containers. That rule was extended to include all chain businesses regardless of what they sell.
