331ds agoGov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio continue to monitor the spike of COVID-19 cases over the holiday weekend.
On Sunday, Mayor de Blasio said the city stands at a positivity rate of above 7%, which could mean state and local officials could start implementing another shutdown or stricter guidelines.
The mayor tweeted on Sunday stating that over 3,000 new cases were reported, with 191 people admitted to the hospital. He reminded New Yorkers to continue to get tested especially during the holiday season.
The Bronx seven-day positivity rates continue to climb at 5.44%, and in Brooklyn 4.83%, that's according to Gov. Cuomo's office.
The statewide positivity rate is at 5.85%. Statewide, over 7,000 people were hospitalized.
The biggest concern remains over holiday gatherings. Elected officials continue to say that 70% of cases have been traced to households, and small gatherings.
Even though the vaccine continues to get distributed to front-line workers, officials expect New Yorkers to continue to wear a mask, social distance and get tested.
