Mayor Eric Adams responded to Woodlawn residents who said they’re outraged over large groups of people gathering and blasting music.

Just minutes after News 12’s original report aired Sunday night, residents reached back out and said another large group gathered Sunday night on Jerome Avenue near Woodlawn Cemetery.

They said more than 50 people and about a dozen cars with large speakers blocked the roadway between Bainbridge Avenue and East 233rd Street, blasting music around 9:30 p.m.

People who live in the area said the music was so loud, their homes were vibrating a mile away.

They told News 12 they called police, and officers cleared the area, but the music returned about an hour later.

Neighbors said meetups have been happening for years, mainly on weekend nights and without advance warning, and the last well into the morning hours.

“They have no respect,” said Joanie Bailey, of Woodlawn. “People live in this neighborhood. We’ve been complaining about this for five years, and no one has done anything about it. If it wasn’t for me reaching out to News 12 and you coming out to support us, this wouldn’t be on the news!”

Residents said they sent a letter to Mayor Adams, with more than 300 signatures.

Adams responded Monday night during News 12’s show "Ask the Mayor."

Adams said he “hates” those types of gatherings in the city.

“You should be able to peacefully live in your street,” Adams said. “If people want to party late at night, go spend your money at one of our nightlife establishments, which is booming in the city now. This can’t take place on the street.”

Adams said the meetups are unacceptable, and whoever is partying there this weekend will see the mayor come through with the NYPD.
