Mayor Bill de Blasio held a town meeting Wednesday in Throgs Neck where many community members voiced outrage over a proposal for reduced lanes on East Tremont Avenue.

More than 100 people showed up at the meeting -- a majority of them not too keen of City Councilman James Vacca's proposal.

Community Board 10 voted down the lane reduction proposal earlier in the year.

The plan, which de Blasio says should save lives, would reduce the number of lanes on East Tremont Avenue from four to two. The Department of Transportation's commissioner even called the road one of the most dangerous streets in the city.

Community members voiced numerous concerns about the plan, saying the majority of neighbors are against the proposal, but those requests are falling on deaf ears.

Vacca says there is much misinformation regarding the plan. De Blasio even told a resident that he was misreading the Constitution, and that elected officials need to vote for what is best for the community. A mother who lost her son in a bike incident on East Tremont Avenue also spoke in favor of doing what it takes to prevent another mother from going through the same thing.

The city plans to go forward with the proposal.
