A memorial service was held Wednesday for a 5-year-old Kashmir Marquis who was killed in a basement fire last week in Williamsbridge.

The FDNY says a fire ripped through 4011 Barnes Ave on Jan. 3 claiming Marquis' life.

"My son is everything to me," said Keyion Gonzales-Marquise, Kashmir's mother. "He was my reason for living."

According to the Department of Buildings, the basement where the fire happened had three illegal rooms constructed inside it.

The family told News 12 the cause of Kashmir's death had to do with smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
