Middle school students from KIPP NYC Public Schools celebrated on Thursday the fact that they each read 1 million words during the 2023-2024 school year.

Students in Riverside Park were able to enjoy individual school celebrations along with a community-wide celebration filled with dancing, an award ceremony and interactive literacy games.

Teachers emphasized the importance of reading to their students and encouraged them to continue reading throughout the summer. Middle schoolers were also treated to books of their choice to take home and enjoy.
