There was a celebration held for a topping-out ceremony for the Earl Monroe New Renaissance Basketball School (EMNRBS). The building is located on the Mott Haven section of the Bronx at 647 Elton Ave.
School leadership, students, former NY Knick John Wallace, and Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson joined the project team including Pillar Property Management, ESKW/Architects and IMC Architecture.
Attendees marked the special occasion by signing the last steel beam that will be installed on top of the building.
EMNRBS will be a specialized high school with a curriculum designed around basketball and all of the career paths associated with the sport, including nutrition, broadcast media and sports psychology. It is a charter, co-ed, and tuition-free high school.
The building is expected to open its doors sometime next year.
