The Bronx mother accused of killing her two young children testified in court for the second day Monday.
Investigators charged Lisette Bamenga, 32, with first-degree murder in the deaths of her 4-year-old son and infant daughter.
Bamenga testified that she would never hurt her children, but also told the court that on July 5, 2012, she heard laughter and voices and felt a strong urge to kill herself.
She says she bought windshield wiper fluid and laced grape juice with the chemical in a bid to kill herself. She says she drank the mixture three times.
During her testimony, she denied accusations that she poured the cocktail into cups for her children.
She says the last she remembered that day was her 4-year-old son asking to play with his bath toys in the tub before lying next to her two kids in bed.
Prosecutors say she killed the two children to get back at their father, who they say was cheating on her. She allegedly poisoned them with the chemical and then drowned them in a bathtub.
Bamenga's lawyer says she experienced "post-partum psychosis."
