November is Alzheimer's Awareness Month, and doctors are trying to raise awareness about the disease.
"Some of the warning signs of Alzheimer's disease are getting lost in familiar places, not being able to retrace your steps," says Dr. Jessica Zwerling. "Some changes in mood and personality should be recognized."
Montefiore Medical Center, in collaboration with its Yonkers hospital, has created a specialized center for aging brains. The early detection of Alzheimer's disease is one of the center's focuses, along with research and treatment.
The say mental health issues like depression can make Alzheimer's symptoms worse.
