It has been 139 days since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and on Monday, local organization “Best for New Americans” is giving back to young Ukrainian refugees.
The organization held a party for the young refugees who have come to call America their new home. Kids were playing with balloons, singing and dancing, helping give them a break from the uphill battle that refugees often face.
“The parties that we are going to do for them will help them forget about the bad things,” said Zhanna Adasieva, community outreach coordinator for the Manhattan School of Computer Technology. “We still want them to feel a little bit like home.”
Best for New Americans told News 12 that they hope to provide even more community support to Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war.
