Today will be Mount Vernon Police Commissioner Glenn Scott's last official act of duty after announcing his retirement. Scott has served the Mount Vernon community for three years after a legacy of public service. During his time as commissioner, Scott supported the addition of the violent crime union, wellness division and expanded partnerships with federal and regional law enforcement agencies - resulting in one of the most impressive homicide closure rates in the country. Deputy Commissioner David Gibson will be sworn in as interim commissioner.
