The MTA is asking Congress for additional emergency aid as a result of the coronavirus pandemic impacting service.
Fifteen other national transportation agencies are also asking for aid.

In a joint letter to congressional leaders, the MTA says the nation's transit agencies would need an extra $32 billion to address the losses.
Similar requests have been made in times of natural disasters.
