The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has introduced its inaugural fleet of electric-powered vans, marking a significant step toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions in New York City.

Consisting of 15 vehicles, these vans are now part of the Access-A-Ride paratransit fleet, which serves a crucial role in providing transportation for individuals with disabilities. The MTA aims to achieve an 85% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2040, and these electric vans represent a tangible effort toward meeting this goal.

Access-A-Ride facilitates over 200,000 paratransit trips daily across the city, catering to the mobility needs of countless individuals. Last month, the service reached a new milestone by setting a record for the highest number of booked trips within a seven-day period, underscoring its importance in New York City's transportation network.
