The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is conducting a study to determine whether to add more Metro-North stations in the Bronx.
MTA officials say the focus of the study is on Co-op City where residents claim they need an easier way to get to midtown Manhattan. If the study finds it economically and environmentally possible, a Metro-North station could be built in Co-op City as well as Parkchester and Hunts Point.
Trains from the new stations would go straight to Penn Station. They would run along already existing Amtrak railroad tracks. MTA officials say the study should be done by the end of this year.
