The governor's Traffic Safety Committee is reminding New Yorkers of the new car seat law for infants that goes into effect today.
The law will require any child under the age of two to be in a rear-facing infant seat.
If the child outgrows the infant seat before their second birthday, the state recommends that you use a convertible or all-in-one car seat with higher rear-facing height and weight limits.
The state is also offering up free car seat checks throughout the month to make sure the seats are installed correctly.
