Starting on Tuesday, New Yorkers ages 16 and older will be eligible for a coronavirus vaccination shot.
However, not all vaccines are authorized for younger teens.
“Only Pfizer is available for children 16 and 17. For 18 years old and older any of the three vaccines are available,” Dr. Jennifer Lighter tells News 12.
Dr. Lighter says more younger New Yorkers and their parents are inquiring about getting vaccinated, but that there are a few who remain reluctant.
“It's important for people to know that these are not live vaccines, you cannot get COVID from the vaccine. There's no mercury in vaccines; these are extremely safe vaccines,” said Dr. Lighter.
Just last week, eligibility in New York opened to people 30 years and older.
