While elected officials have made sure to inform New Yorkers that abortion will remain legal in New York, city residents gathered in Washington Square Park to speak out against the United States Supreme Court vote that overturned Roe v. Wade.

Thirteen states have initiated “trigger bans” that will start taking effect immediately. Louisiana and Kentucky are the first two states to ban abortion after the Supreme Court ruling.
Gov. Kathy Hochul says she is compelled to respond and make abortion accessible to those who live in states where they cannot get one.
