The New Jersey Attorney General's Office has published records connected to 20,000 drunken driving cases which could help people looking to challenge their arrest or conviction.

Anyone arrested for DWI from 2008 to 2016 might be entitled to post conviction relief, which means a conviction can be challenged because it was unjust. In these cases, breath tests were administered by police officers using devices that may have not been properly calibrated by former state police Sgt. Marc Dennis.

New Jersey State Police suspended Dennis in 2016 on suspicions he lied about testing the alco-test machines. He was eventually charged in two separate cases. Dennis was sentenced to five years in prison back in 2023 for third-degree tampering.

A jury also found him guilty of misusing his state police ID to get out of a series of traffic stops in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

Anyone who believes they are entitled to post conviction relief can find more information on the state’s attorney general website.
