One Norwood man is taking literacy into his own hands by creating a book exchange program.
Brandon Montes, a 27-year-old Fordham graduate, created the book exchange program last August, using books he bought and donations to create a makeshift library each weekend. Montes is calling it the Norwood Community Library.
The book exchange is at the corner of Bainbridge Avenue and East Gun Hill Road.
Readers are able to take a book and do not have to pay for it or return it.
Barnes and Noble was the borough's only retail book store, and it closed in 2017.
The Lit Bar, an independent book store, plans to open soon in the South Bronx.
On April 28, Montes will be giving away free copies of "The Alchemist."
