Several executive orders put in place by Gov. Andrew Cuomo were suspended by the state Senate today.
This included the requirement that food be ordered by anyone having a drink, which some had referred to as Cuomo Chips.
That rule was put in place in July by Gov. Cuomo with the goal of keeping people in their seats and preventing mingling, which he said could lead to crowds.
This brought some serious frustrations to those in the hospitality industry, especially those who had not previously served food.
The NYC hospitality alliance sent a statement that said in part, "This adjustment is common sense, and is a step in the right direction for supporting an industry that was financially devastated by the pandemic."
Gov. Cuomo announced on Wednesday that the curfew will be lifted for outdoor dining areas beginning May 17 and indoor areas beginning May 31.
