Nyack is preparing for the annual Halloween parade, which steps off Saturday evening and is expected to draw thousands of attendees.
This year's grand marshal is Mario Marchese, better known as Mario the Maker Magician, who said the village played a major role in shaping his path.
"Coming to Nyack at 17 years old, I was a punk rocker with a skateboard and Nyack just welcomed me with all its heart," Marchese said.
Marchese plans to bring his signature energy and interactive style to the parade.
Known for blending magic, creativity and audience participation, he invited the community to join him at the event.
"See you tomorrow at the Halloween Day Parade!!" Marchese said.
The parade is the 37th annual event organized by the Nyack Chamber of Commerce.
The event draws thousands every year.
"We take Halloween very seriously here and this is one of the highlights of the season," said Nyack Mayor Joe Rand.
Rand advises attendees to arrive before 4 p.m., when street closures are scheduled to begin ahead of the parade's 5:30 p.m. start.
The village has posted no parking signs throughout the area as preparations continue.
People can expect trucks and barriers to block portions of the parade route and surrounding streets.
