New York City is now the most expensive place in the nation to buy a pack of cigarettes.

The city’s Department of Health announced that the minimum price for a pack of cigarettes will be $13 starting Saturday.

Health department officials hope the price hike will encourage more people to kick the habit.

Current numbers show 850,000 New York adults continue to smoke.
