It's the home stretch in the race for New York City mayor.
Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani continues to command the polls, but the pressure is mounting for challengers Andrew Cuomo and Curist Sliwa, who are hoping to make up for lost ground in the final weekend on the campaign trail.
The candidates are making stops across the five boroughs in a last push to secure votes.
Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa has spent every morning at a subway station. On Friday afternoon, he visited a Bronx mosque for prayer service.
"Muslims are definitely people who believe in law and order, protection of their family, protection of their small businesses as a rising number of people who've come into the Bronx to strengthen the community and I recognize that," said Sliwa.
The founder of the Guardian Angels dubbed himself the mayor of law and order. Whie polls show he is the least favorable of the candidates, Sliwa said he was encouraged by the number of early voters who casted their ballots so far.
"I told them you got to vote, even if you're not voting for me, I am so excited by the turn out so far in early voting, this is amazing this is democracy in action one person one vote," said Sliwa.
Sliwa wants to repeal the City of Yes and return zoning power to local communities — a policy that Andrew Cuomo has recently backed.
“I supported City of Yes because the final version made real changes – scaling back ADU construction in residential areas and protecting the character of low-density neighborhoods like those on Staten Island,” Cuomo continued. “Councilmember Kamillah Hanks and her colleagues fought hard for those protections, and I’ll honor that victory. Now, as the law takes effect, key details – from flood-zone maps to historic districts and parking rules – will determine how New Yorkers actually experience it. The final regulations must reflect the spirit and intent of those reforms.”
The former governor spent his afternoon with Jewish voters at a Cafe in Brighton Beach, alongside Republican Councilmember Inna Vernikov.
"If you elect a socialist mayor, you will see businesses flee New York, you will see wealth flee New York, you will see dropped revenues, and that literally can threaten the survival of New York as we know it," said Cuomo.
On Thursday night, Zohran Mamdani spent the evening speaking with taxi drivers at Laguardia Airport.
"I want to redefine what it means to be the nighttime mayor of this city, someone who also serves those who struggle through the hours when many of us are resting," said Mamdani.
The Democratic Socialist is expected to meet with the National Action Network and Rev. Al Sharpton on Saturday in Harlem to address issues amongst Black and brown New Yorkers.
Early voting ends on Nov. 2. The general election is on Nov. 4.
