The Yankees partnered with New York City to encourage people to get out and get tested Tuesday for a chance to win some Yankees gear.
The city kicked off Get Tested Tuesday last week with NYC Health + Hospitals. Get Tested Tuesday's goal is to continue to focus outreach in target communities like neighborhoods in the Bronx and Brooklyn. Neighborhoods where the city has seen a slight increase in COVID-19 cases.
More than 40 NYC Health + Hospitals locations will be handing out free T-shirts, caps and other memorabilia to the first 4,000 New Yorkers who get tested today.
The team even put together a promotional video. It features Yankees manager Aaron Boone and several players encouraging people to keep washing their hands, wearing masks and practice social distancing. The mayor is calling Get Tested Tuesday a day of action.
"We we want you to get tested as often as you want to get tested, we're here for you We will give you a good experience free of charge," says NYC Health + Hospitals Vice President Ted Long
