NYPD: Person in custody for shooting 13-year-old was on parole for firearm charge

The NYPD says the 36-year-old man in custody was on parole for a previous firearm charge and had been bailed out on a current firearm charge.

Police say a 13-year-old boy was shot in the neck in the Bronx Tuesday morning.
NYPD responded to a report of a 13-year-old boy shot at 7:21 a.m. on East 223rd Street Tuesday. 
Officials say the teenager was walking on his way to school when he was struck. According to the NYPD, the boy was transported for treatment and is in stable condition.
Police say a 36-year-old man has been taken into custody and that a gun was recovered at the scene. 
The NYPD says the 36-year-old man in custody was on parole for a previous firearm charge and had been bailed out on a current firearm charge. 
The incident is still under investigation. Police say charges are pending at this time. 
No other injuries have been reported at this time.
