Police say a 14-year-old girl was stabbed in the back in Melrose.

The girl was stabbed at Brooke and Westchester avenues at 2:55 p.m.

She was taken to Harlem Hospital and was in stable condition.

The person who stabbed her was described as a female with an afro who left the scene on foot.
