Police say two siblings were found in an Allerton apartment on Wednesday evening with bruises, allegedly held captive in the apartment for some time.

The NYPD says the two siblings were found in the home of 34-year-old Michael Ramos, who allegedly kept them captive and abused them for many months.

The NYPD took to Twitter to say that after responding to a call about a dispute at 1166 Burke Ave., they found those two siblings pistol-whipped, handcuffed and hit with a wooden bat.

Responding officers say they found a loaded handgun on the dining room table when entering the apartment. Police say Ramos was the primary caregiver of the two children after his mother, their original caregiver, passed away in December of 2022, leaving the children in care of Ramos.

Neighbors who spoke to News 12 say the kids would be outside with their mother frequently before her passing, but that they didn't see them for months afterwards.

According to an affidavit from the Bronx district attorney, one of the two siblings said that they had not left the apartment since January.

The two children were taken to a Bronx hospital and are in stable condition.

Ramos is in police custody facing multiple charges including criminal possession of a weapon, assault, criminal possession of a firearm and more. He is being held without bail.

News 12 has reached out to the Administration of Child Services, which could not confirm if there were previous cases or complaints made in regards to these two kids.
