The NYPD is asking for the public’s help to identify the two people who they say assaulted and robbed a 77-year-old man in Concourse Village.
It happened shortly after 10 a.m. on Jan. 27 inside of an apartment building near Grand Concourse and East 163rd Street. Police released the information on Sunday and did not say which apartment building.
Investigators said the two people entered the building, pushed the victim to the ground and punched him multiple times, causing pain and bruising. Then the pair went into the victim’s apartment, robbed him and ran off.
The NYPD released photos which show the sought-after robbers covering their faces, wearing dark, long-sleeved jackets and dark-colored pants.
Residents who live in the area said they’re shocked.
“It surprises me,” said Narissa Williams, of Concourse Village. “I never have a problem. I don’t think, I don’t expect someone to beat up a senior person.”
“Our seniors, [people] take advantage of them, and they do that kind of stuff,” said Patricia Rice, of Concourse Village. “I just think it’s horrible.”
Police said the victim was stable and taken to a local hospital.
Anyone with information about the suspects is urged to call police.
