A 25-year-old man is recovering in the hospital after police said he was stabbed late Sunday morning while on an uptown 5 train in Concourse Village.

The NYPD said the attack happened around 11 a.m. near the 149th Street and Grand Concourse subway station.

Police said the victim and another man got into an argument – then the attacker stabbed the 25-year-old and ran off.

Police said it is unclear what the argument was about or whether the two men knew each other.

The victim was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in critical but stable condition.

NYPD data shows transit crime across the city and The Bronx is down so far this year compared to last.

This stabbing comes just a week after more than 700 additional officers were deployed to stations across the city but Bronx riders still feel unsafe.

“You just never know – a lot of people with mental issues,” said subway rider Sophie Texeira. “It’s just not safe. You just can’t trust anybody."

Anyone with information about the attack is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
