The NYPD says 26-year-old Robert Matthews was arrested on Monday in connection to a deadly hit-and-run in Bushwick days before Mother's Day.
A mother and daughter were crossing the street at Knickerbocker Avenue and Eldert Street when police say Matthews blew a stop sign and ran them over on May 9.
The 44-year-old daughter was brought to the hospital and was in stable condition, but her 71-year-old mother, Juanita Vidal, died due to her injuries.
"I want him to be in jail for many years because that's what he deserves," one Bushwick resident told News 12.
The 26-year-old faces a slew of charges, including second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and leaving an accident resulting in death, among at least a dozen other charges.
