The NYPD says a woman is dead after she was struck by a police car in the Edgemere section of Queens.
The department says a police car was on the way to help an officer, and had its flashing lights and sirens activated.
It tried passing a civilian car at the intersection of Beach Channel Drive and Bay 32nd Street, but officers say that car didn't give them room and the two vehicles crashed.
The police car went spinning and hit a 52-year-old woman on the sidewalk. She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The four officers inside the police car went to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle in that crash did not suffer any injuries.
No charges or criminality have been announced.
