Police say a 72-year-old woman is dead and a 47-year-old man was injured in a Friday morning stabbing in Sheepshead Bay.
Investigators say it happened at 830 a.m. at 4190 Bedford Ave.
Police say both victims suffered multiple stab wounds.
Both were taken to NYC Health and Hospital in Coney Island, where the woman was pronounced dead and the man was listed in stable condition as of Friday evening.
Neighbors say they recognized the victims and suspect as they were removed from the building via ambulance just after 10 a.m. They say the suspect stabbed his mother and brother and described the graphic scene they witnessed.
"I knew the family for many years the mother she was deaf, I saw the brother come out he was bleeding it was covering his face, then I saw him come out and he was covered in blood but not injured and you could see it was everwhere," said neighbor Slava Simburg.
Simburg and other neighbors describe the suspect, whose name has not yet been released, as a frequent panhandler in the neighborhood who had a well-known drug problem.
Police have not yet released a motive or released the names of those involved.
