The driver of a Ford Mustang struck multiple pedestrians and crashed into scaffolding at a busy intersection at 149 St. and Courtlandt Avenue, the NYPD says.
The scene unfolded just around 11 a.m. Thursday. The NYPD says the driver was heading east on East 149th Street when it attempted to make a right turn onto Courtlandt Avenue and collided with a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
The unidentified driver of the car then sped off and lost control. That's when sources say the car then jumped the curb, slamming into scaffolding and five more pedestrians.
All six people injured were taken to NYC Health + Hospital/Lincoln Hospital where they are all currently in stable condition.
Police say the driver of the Mustang and a passenger in the car fled the scene on foot and are still on the loose.
