The NYPD says the Brooklyn salon fire earlier this week is now being investigated as a hate crime.
Salon Rhed on 374 Myrtle Ave. near Claremont Avenue went up in flames just before 1:30 a.m. Monday. After investigating the cause of the fire, officials say they found two swastikas painted in red in the hallway of the first floor of the building. Police are now on the hunt for the individual responsible.
The FDNY says 12 firetrucks and 60 firefighters responded to the flames in the middle of the night on Monday. The fire department was able to place the fire under control, but the Black-owned business was badly damaged.
No arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is still ongoing.
